about me . . .
I am a Senior Lecturer in English Literature at Loughborough University in the East Midlands of Engand. My research specialism is food in early modern literature, especially the drama of Shakespeare and his contemporaries. I am currently working on my 8th book, a complete guide to the depiction of food across the canon of English Literature, being co-written with Charlotte Boyce of Portsmouth University.
I have just completed my 7th book, a critical edition of three 16th-century dietaries--printed guides on what to eat and why--that will be published in the Revels Companion Library series by Manchester University Press later this year (2015). My previous book was a dictionary of Shakespeare and the Language of Food in the Arden Shakespeare Dictionaries series published by Bloomsbury (2011). Full texts of all my publications are available from the link on the left, together with links to the publishers' pages for my previous 6 books.
